Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
I know that if I have felt certain ways, then there are others that can identify, so I want to talk about trying to be perfect...for another person. I was a beautiful young woman, when I went with my fiancé to buy a ring, the sales lady looked at my intended and at me and said, "How did you get her?" I quickly spoke “I had wondered how I deserved someone that was so good to me.” I didn't change the way I look, I had two beautiful children and yet I sit writing this as a divorced woman whose husband left for someone much younger than I. No bitterness now, we are best of friends, but I have to tell you, it did a number on my self-esteem. This is for someone who might be going through something similar, you have done everything to be perfect as a wife/husband. friend and lover, and yet you are forsaken. You are not feeling very perfect right now. Jesus is the only One that can bring happiness and perfect peace into your life! We all want to be perfect. I know that is a broad statement, but isn't it true? We lose weight, get face lifts and boob jobs, men work on their muscles and get convertables, al in the quest to be thought of as "perfect". There was not a more perfect man than Jesus Christ! He was tempted in EVERY way, without sin, perfect, yet as He hung on the Cross God turned His face from Him! God could not look at sin and Jesus BECAME sin for us! That is why Jesus called out from the cross "My God, My God why have You forsaken me?". For that period of time, hanging on the cross between life and death, Jesus was utterly alone. Now I got excited at the next thing that came to me. 2 Chronicles 16:9For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Could that be me? It CAN be! Psalm 138:8 The LORD will perfect concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, forever. Did you read that? He things that concern ME! Since Jesus gives us the promise that if we ask we will receive, and that He and the Father will come in and "sup" with us, will live in our heart...then He must see us as (dare I say it?) PERFECT! So you may not look in the mirror and see perfection, but if God didn't see us as perfect could He look at us? No, we aren't REALLY perfect, but if we are trying with a "perfect" heart, that is all he asks of you! Then there is Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is on you, trust in the Lord for in Him is everlasting strength! Perfect PEACE! Boy, we could ALL use that! Matthew 5:48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. "Perfect" in this sense means, "mature" or "grow up"..so we have the promise that we will become perfect! I like that one! So, are we perfect now? No, but we are becoming that way and our quest for perfection can be over if we just look at ourselves through the eyes of God! Wonder if that counts when I stand on the scale or look at myself in the mirror...let me go see and I will give you my "perfect" report!
