Have you ever said "If I were the Christian I was supposed to be I wouldn't feel"...now fill in the blanks: fearful, jealous, envious, worthless, bitter, un-trusting, un-trustworthy, mean, despised...oh the list could go on and on, but you get my drift! Well, dear Reader, I have the answers for you, truthfully not I, but the Word. Let's start with a few verses from Psalm 109 (Message)Oh, God, my Lord, step in; work a miracle for me—you can do it! Get me out of here—your love is so great!—I'm at the end of my rope, my life in ruins. I'm fading away to nothing, passing away, my youth gone, old before my time. Psalms 40:17(Message)  And me? I'm a mess. I'm nothing and have nothing:  make something of me. You can do it; you've got what it takes— but God, don't put it off.  Psalm 70:5 But I've lost it. I'm wasted.God—quickly, quickly! Quick to my side, quick to my rescue! God, don't lose a minute. Now, all these words were said TO GOD from the Shepherd King, David, a man, about whom it is said, "a man after God's OWN heart!" If this man, who was so very close to God and had sinned greatly, who had a man killed so that he could have his wife, after whom he had lusted when looking down on her while she was bathing, could feel so low, then why shouldn't you have times that you feel "poor and needy"? You have to ask for agreement in prayer. If there are any "bad attitudes in you," let us tell that spirit to be gone in the name of Jesus. Have I ever felt those feelings? I would be lying to you if I said no. However, isn't that what life is about? To overcome these trials? Realizing and admitting that you have a fault: James 5: 16(Message) Confess your sins (faults) to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. I have heard it said that life is the training ground for eternity, the "boot camp"! I want to pass every test life throws at me, and I know that you also feel that same way! The moment you really begin trying to conquer your "faults" a dozen things will crop up to stop you. People will test your patience until it wears so thin you can see through it, but hang on, Philippians 4:13 (Amplified)I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency. Psalm 139:23-24 Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me;Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I'm about; See for yourself whether I've done anything wrong—then guide me on the road to eternal life.

Be blessed, Pray, don't let the devil tell you lies about others or yourself! You are worth it!

I have heard of people that had a "broken heart", I have even heard it said that a person "died of a broken heart", that must be a terrible sadness. We "give our heart to the Lord", the "heart of the King is in the hand of the Lord", it is said that the "heart is desparately wicked who can know it?", the Psalmist said, "Try my reigns (heart) and see if there be any wicked way in me", you get a "heart ache". We used to sing a song about broken hearts: "He's the healer of broken hearts, he'll mend your shattered dreams, he'll pick up the threads of your broken life and weave them together again. To your soul he will bring peace and joy, your friend indeed he'll be, he's the healer of broken hearts, this Jesus of Gallilee."  How closely does this relate to the mind? The heart of a matter is our emotional reaction, the mind, however, is the calculater, the part of us that thinks and decides whether we will or will not serve the Lord, if we will try to do His perfect will.  It is said that if you give a person an inch, they will take a mile. Whoever said that must have been referring to Satan himself. 1Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant, becasue your adversary the devil walks about like  roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.  Hebrews 12:15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled. When we allow bitterness, jealousy, revenge, hate, prejudice, anger of any kind dwell in our mind, as we see in this scripture, not only does it har us, but hurts, defiles those who associate with us! Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Proverbs 23:7 As he thinks in his heart, so is he. So we know that our heart doesn't think, so we are talking about the mind, yes? You have to keep your mind fresh, washed in the Word! My dad is 91 years young and his mind is still as sharp today as it ever was. I believe it is because he sits t his computer for hours studying the Word of God and preparing sermons to give on Wednesday nights at our church. Ephesians 4:26-27 Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. What I see in this scripture is that God knows there will be times of anger and other emotions that are not so good for us, but He is saying, "Don't dwell in them, don't let the sun go down before you make things right!" That, to me, means that every night we go to sleep with a clear conscience, having made peace with people around us and by giving all our cares to Him, for He cares for us! So whether you have a broken heart or a broken mind, we know that He is the great physician and can make us brand new! Jesus gave us some advice that, if followed, will help free our mind of worry and things that cause it to "break": Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Be blessed, pray, wash your mind in the Word to keep it from getting "broken!"

Nothing feels worse than being betrayed by someone you love, a friend. To trust someone and find out that you have been "used" is, what I used to say was, "the pits." Betrayal is rampant in every area, from politicians and preachers to friends. What are we supposed to do when attacked or betrayed by a friend? The book of Job is the classic example. When Job's troubles came, the phrase, "Job's comforters", was born. These guys came along and raked him over the coals of accustion on every level. Even his wife told him to "curse God and die". Job complains to God 16:20 My friends scorn me, my eyes pour out tears to God. Have you ever felt like "when it rains it pours", everything happens at once, and then people want to blame you. It is easy to be bitter at a time like that, but remember that Jesus forgave Peter after he denied Him before the people in the courtyard, in His hearing! As long as we carry unforgiveness in our heart, it is like carrying around an arm full of dirty diapers and being surprised when someone says something about the bad smell, it shows. When did Job get everything back? Job 42:10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before. Job prayed for his friends and God gave him everything he had lost and twice as much! Is it easy to do? Not really, but we have to keep on keeping on, keep on trying so that we are innocent. I told you about the Tee shirt someone gave me, "God put your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth!" Yea, that's the ticket, lean on God's strong chest and let Him do your talking for you! Proverbs 18:24 A man that has friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. That friend is Jesus, "What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear, What a priviledge to carry everything to Him in prayer."  1 John 5: 14-15  Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. Jesus told us to "Ask" and we would receive. I know that sometimes it feels like the sky is brass and everything bounces back and lands in our lap, but, as I said and it is worth repeating, there is a solution and there is a "friend that sticks closer than a brother" and that friend is Jesus, whatever you have need of, take it to Him, right now. Sometimes it is the act of "unloading" yourself to someone that you know cares and will keep your confidence. If you need agreement on a prayer and don't have a "prayer partner" then consider me that partner in prayer with you. You can write to me at harolene@att.net  I would love to hear from you. I am praying for you to Be Blessed! Forgive and you shall be forgiven..amen.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that antidepressants are now the most commonly prescribed drugs in the US, ... A quote from CNN.com says "Too many people take drugs when they really need to be making changes in ther lives." God gave us solutions in the Word for worry, but it looks like we are not takng His advice, doesn't it? 1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care on Him, for He cares for you! Or, He will take care of you, why worry? I looked up the meaning of the word "fret": Fret 1.To cause to be uneasy; vex: 2.To gnaw or wear away; erode. 3.To be vexed or troubled; worry, brood.

There was a song a few years back, "Don't Worry, Be happy," if we live by the Word of God, we could really do that, couldn't we? With the trouble around us from international problems to family grievances, I say, while it is still January, let's add this resolution for the year: take God at His Word and lean on Him! I am putting a few sciptures here for you, copy this and put them on the fridge (not hardly room on mine for anything else) so that you see them every day. In December we'll take another look at how we're doing, just in time for the Holidays!

Psalm 37:1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
Psalm 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Psalm 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

Proverbs 24:19  Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked:

Be blessed, pray, read the prescrbed scriptures then, Don't Worry, Be Happy!

There is an ad campaign that states: "You never outgrow your need for milk." I say that you never outgrow your need to be needed, to be useful, to be one that people know can get a job done. I remember when my grand dad was young, and I was just a little girl, hearing him say,"When it comes my time to retire I will be glad to do it! I will go home and fish all I want and sit and hold my sweetheart's hand." He was instrumental in forging the rule, in his organization, for a retirement age that was mandatory. When he said it, in his energized and busy youth, he meant it, but when he got there, he saw the error of his decision. I can speak, as one who has a little mileage, you never get old in your head, right? It is especially upsetting when you are retired against your will, from things that you always did. I am glad that God doesn't look at us according to age, but looks on our heart, our spirit, our willingness to go out and do what ever He wants you to do. When there is anointing on your life, no one can take it away from you, but you can certainly lay it down and let your gift go to waste. If you bound your arm against your body and quit using it, it would soon atrophy and would become useless. Proverbs 18:16 A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men. In the natural people coming with gifts are welcome and so are anointed servants of God. It is the goal of Satan to discourage you to the point that you will throw up your hands, just give up. When you do, someone will step into your place and it will be gone. Jesus said: Revelation 3:11 "I'm on my way; I'll be there soon. Keep a tight grip on what you have so no one distracts you and steals your crown. If you took a cup of water from the ocean, would it be missed? A scoop of sand from the desert, would it be missed? No, your place is waiting to be filled in by others, don't give up, don't give in. This past week, watching the game between the Vikings and the Saints, I was reminded of a game I watched long ago between the Colts and the Jets. It was a young upstart, Joe Namath against veteran Johnny Unitas. Joe won the game and was jumpng and celebrating the camera got a shot of Unitas slowly walking off the field, helmet hanging from his hand by the strap. The very picture of loss, discouragement. Even as a young teen, that scene burned into my mind as something I, number one, did not want to cause happen to an older person, and number two, would not want to have happen to me. Two weeks ago I was thrilled to see Brett Favre win over the younger Tony Romo, I thought he celebrated a little too much, by making the extra touchdown, then this week saw him laying on a gurney, ankle bandaged and ulitmately losing the battle of the game. Dear reader, you and I are in a simular battle in this life. There are those on the sidelines, some cheering us on wanting to see our spiritual success, and others cheering when they see a dirty play to get you off the field. Don't stay down, get up, get yourself armed with the helmet, breastplate, sword of the Spirit and fight. End of times is near and we have to put aside our personal hurts for the greater glory of God. If you are under a burden, remember Isaiah 10:27 It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil. In the words of a song penned by Jim Swilley, CITN, "It's the anointing that makes the difference, once you have felt it, you'll never be the same." Don't give up! Don't give in! Be blessed!
